Neodymium pot magnet with threaded bush
The pot magnet with screw socket is a neodymium disc magnet that is built into a steel cup. Unlike magnetic systems with internal thread, the thread here is not continuous.
Pot magnets with a screw socket are an excellent base for hooks and eyelets. These can be screwed into the magnet with their external thread. You will find identically constructed hook magnets and eyelet magnets in our assortment.

Pot magnets with threaded bush – design and function
A magnet with a threaded bush is a combination of a neodymium disc magnet and a steel cup. The disc magnet is inserted into the steel casing and the edges are filled with epoxy or a plastic ring. You could say that the steel cup sits like a pot over the magnet. This is where the term pot magnet comes from.
The pot magnet with screw socket has its screw thread above the steel cup. The advantage is that, unlike pot magnets with an inner thread, the magnet does not have to make place for the thread. A disc magnet of the largest possible size can be used, which ensures a strong holding force. This is also the reason why this design has a higher magnetic force than a magnet with internal screw thread of the same dimensions.
Neodymium pot magnets have a few advantages over raw magnets:
- Neodymium magnets behave like porcelain and tend to chip or splinter when subjected to direct force. The steel pot protects the magnet and makes it more robust.
- The field lines of the magnet are directed through the steel casing to the open holding surface, which leads to an increase in holding power.
- The otherwise fragile magnets can be equipped with various attachments thanks to the steel cup. A normal raw magnet could not be equipped with a screw socket just like that. This opens up a range of possible applications.
Neodymium magnet with screw socket in use
A major advantage of pot magnets of all kinds is their versatility. When handled correctly, they can be reused over and over again and attached to the holding surface in a flash. Neodymium pot magnets with screw sockets are mainly used for mobile fixtures and suspensions. Often, a hook or eyelet is screwed into the pot magnet, which is then attached to the wall or ceiling. This allows ropes, cords and other hanging items to be fixed in the desired place for a short time and repositioned elsewhere as needed. This is particularly useful at the point of sale, in showrooms or in retail stores.
Please note:
The magnet with screw socket is designed for indoor use. The steel cup can develop rust film and the neodymium magnet is not resistant to rust.
If you are looking for magnet systems specifically for outdoor or wet environments, we recommend our rubberized magnets. These are also available with a screw socket.
