Pot magnets with internal thread combine strong holding power with easy mounting. The neodymium magnet core guarantees reliable support for your applications and is securely installed with the steel cup.
In order to fully develop its holding power, the pot magnet with internal thread must lie directly on the holding surface. A very thin or painted holding surface can negatively influence the magnetic forces.

Pot magnets with internal thread – design and function
The pot magnet with internal thread is a combination of a neodymium ring magnet and a steel cup. The raw magnet is embedded in the steel casing and the edges are filled with a plastic ring or epoxy. You could say that the steel cup sits like a pot over the magnet – hence the term pot magnet.
Neodymium pot magnets with internal thread have the special feature that the steel cup is threaded in the middle. Unlike conventional pot magnets, a ring magnet is used here instead of a disc magnet, because space is needed in the middle for the thread. They have the same advantages as other magnet systems:
- The brittle neodymium magnet is shielded and protected by the steel cup. This makes it more robust and flexible to install.
- The field lines of the magnet are directed through the steel casing to the open holding surface, which leads to an increase in adhesive force.
- The otherwise fragile magnets can be equipped with various attachments through the steel cup. This opens up a wide range of possible applications.
Neodymium magnet with internal thread in use
A major advantage of pot magnets of all kinds is their versatility. When handled correctly, they can be reused over and over again and are quick to assemble.
These properties make them a real all-purpose weapon in industry, at the point of sale or in advertising technology. Neodymium magnets with internal thread fulfill important functions as holding magnets in machine and fixture construction. When mounted on advertising signs, they can be attached to all types of iron surfaces. Thanks to their robust industrial design, our magnets are extremely resilient and can withstand heavy loads. Our strongest neodymium magnet with internal thread has an impressive adhesive force of 175 kg! For conventional purposes or for use on the workbench, smaller sizes are perfectly adequate.
Please note: the pot magnet with thread is not designed for outdoor use.
The magnet is coated, but chipped spots can lead to rust. The steel cup is also susceptible to rust. For outdoor applications, we have special rubberized magnets in our assortment. These are also available with internal thread.
