Deep pot magnets
The so-called deep pot magnets are magnet systems with a cylindrical housing. This is usually made of steel or brass and can have different magnetic cores: neodymium, samarium cobalt or AlNiCo.
In the Magna-C magnet shop, we offer a variety of deep pot magnets in different sizes and designs. Just like flat grippers, deep pot magnets can also be equipped with different threads. This allows for quick and easy assembly.
Magnet systems without threads are installed by gluing, pressing or shrinking.
The industry can no longer be imagined without deep pot magnets. Magna-C offers high stock quantities at affordable prices – certified according to TÜV ISO 9001.

The deep pot magnet and its properties
Depending on the magnet core and housing, deep pot magnets have very different properties. The following magnets can be installed in a deep pot magnet:
- Neodymium: neodymium deep pot magnet systems are characterized above all by their high holding force. This is the strongest of all magnet cores. They are installed in a cylindrical steel insert that is equipped with an internal or external thread. Of course, we also have a “raw” version for gluing or pressing in our range. Neodymium can withstand temperatures of up to 80°C. An exception are neodymium bar magnets with a brass housing. These can be recognized by their shiny gold finish and are heat resistant up to 100°C.
- Samarium cobalt: A samarium cobalt deep pot magnet combines high holding force with high heat resistance. Our SmCo bar magnets come in a brass housing and are designed for temperatures up to 180°C. We have a version without a thread and one with an internal thread in our standard range. Of course, we can also supply bar magnet systems with a different housing or mounting method on request.
- AlNiCo: AlNiCo deep pot magnets have the highest temperature resistance. All versions in our magnet shop are heat-resistant up to 450°C. However, they have lower holding forces than comparable bar magnet systems made of SmCo or neodymium.
Important information on the use of deep pot magnets
When installing and using deep pot magnets, there are a few points to keep in mind:
Regardless of the housing (steel or brass), the magnet must not be directly surrounded by iron. This reduces the holding force by about 15%. When installing, make sure that the bar magnet is several millimeters away from the surrounding iron.
The bar magnet has a very flat magnetic field. This means that it must always be placed directly on the surface to which it is attached. This should have a minimum thickness of 3mm so that the field lines are optimally absorbed. Failure to observe this and use on uneven or painted surfaces will result in a significant loss of holding power of the deep pot magnet.
The magnetic field can affect EC cards and storage media such as HDDs. To prevent damage or data loss, you should maintain a safe distance of about 1 meter.
Areas of application for deep pot magnets
Deep pot magnets made of neodymium, SamCo or AlNiCo are used primarily in industry. They are used in mechanical engineering, toolmaking and assembly technology to hold workpieces during their processing.
When processing workpieces, high temperatures can sometimes arise, which is why heat-resistant bar magnets are very popular. These can also be used in drying ovens and welding fixtures.
In all these applications, the shielding of the magnet is very important. Thanks to the steel or brass housing, no magnetism penetrates to the outside and disturbs the environment. The magnetic force acts only on the free holding surface. That is why bar magnet systems work very cleanly and reliably.
Magna-C guarantees the highest quality standards in the production and processing of our bar magnet systems. Benefit from over 50 years of experience in the magnet industry. Certified according to TÜV ISO 9001.
