Neodymium disc magnets
Strong neodymium disc magnets are ideal for applications where space is limited. Despite their small size, neodymium disc magnets have very high holding forces.
These magnets are used in electrical engineering – for example, in loudspeakers. They are also used in sectors such as mechanical engineering, jewelry design, furniture construction and plastics technology.
We offer a wide range of dimensions at affordable prices. Most of our magnets are available in large quantities from stock.

Disc magnets: the best form of neodymium magnets
Disc magnets made of neodymium are by far the most popular form of neodymium magnet. The flat magnets can be easily glued or pressed into recesses. This makes them popular in furniture making, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Compared to other magnet shapes such as block or rod magnets, the disc magnet has the highest holding force for the same volume. But why is that?
The secret lies in the shape – or, more precisely, in the 2:1 ratio of diameter to height. This ratio creates the optimal conditions for the best possible formation of the magnetic field. For this reason, a neodymium disc magnet achieves higher holding forces than a block magnet of the same volume. Many industries take advantage of this property. That is why we at Magna-C offer a wide range of dimensions in our magnet shop. Thanks to over 50 years of experience in the magnet industry, we understand the different requirements of our customers.
You can choose the right magnet for your needs from over 50 different neodymium disc magnets. We also carry flat magnets with counterpart in our assortment. These are adhesive plates for gluing or screwing in case there is no suitable surface for the disc magnet.
What is the best way to install disc magnets?
Neodymium disc magnets are so-called raw magnets. This means they consist of the alloy NdFeB and an outer coating - for example, of nickel. Unlike magnet systems that are equipped with a thread, a neodymium disc magnet does not offer any direct mounting option.
The most popular way to attach a disc magnet is with adhesive. It is best to use adhesives that cure completely and have no elasticity, since the holding forces of the magnet have to be compensated. Magna-C offers special magnetic adhesives for metals and plastics - superglue works as well.
Other possibilities are pressing in and injection molding. When pressing in, the neodymium disc magnet is pressed into a hole with the help of a punch. Injection molding works similarly: The flat magnet is placed in a cavity and the edges are filled with plastic.
Sometimes, the only option is to screw them in. In this case, we have screw-on disc magnets in our product range. These are equipped with conical counterbore holes for easy mounting.
Never try to drill neodymium disc magnets, as they are brittle. When drilling, they can easily chip and splinter – this can destroy the magnet.
Flat neodymium magnets and their magnetic properties
All flat neodymium magnets are axially magnetized. This means that they have their poles on the opposite circular surfaces. Our standard disc magnets have the magnetic quality N42. They are heat-resistant up to 80°C and have a neodymium content of 42%. For applications at higher temperatures, heat-resistant neodymium disc magnets up to 150°C are suitable.
Are flat magnets not the right shape for you after all? We offer many other types of neodymium magnets in our magnet shop:
- Rod magnets
- Ring magnets
- Block magnets
- Self-adhesive magnets
- Screw-on magnets
