Samarium-Cobalt pot magnet with threaded bushing
Heat-resistant samarium-cobalt cup magnets with a threaded insert can be used at temperatures of up to 200°C. They have strong holding forces because the steel pot focuses the magnetic field lines and directs them onto the open holding surface. These magnets are installed using the threaded bush attached to the steel pot.
In our magnet shop, you will find various sizes of these robust and heat-resistant flat grippers. Certified according to TÜV ISO 9001 and made in Germany.

SmCo pot magnets with threaded bushing up to 200°C
In industries such as machine and tool construction or in industrial applications, high ambient temperatures are often reached. This is a big issue in the magnet industry, since many magnets cannot cope with heat and are irreparably destroyed. Magnets made of neodymium, for example, are popular due to their high holding forces, but can only be used at temperatures up to a maximum of 80°C. Higher temperatures lead to an irreversible loss of the adhesive force of neodymium magnets.
SmCo flat pot magnets with screw socket are the perfect alternative for applications where high temperatures occur. They achieve magnetic forces comparable to those of neodymium, but can withstand temperatures of up to 200°C. Thanks to the threaded bush being attached to the steel pot, assembly is quick and easy.
You can find more information about the operating temperature of various types of magnet in our magnet encyclopedia. It's worth taking a look!
Samarium cobalt pot magnets with screw socket – design and function
These flat pot magnets consist of a steel pot with a screw socket and a samarium cobalt disc magnet. The SmCo magnet is firmly embedded in the steel pot thanks to the potting compound on the side and cannot fall out during use.
Samarium cobalt flat pot magnets with screw socket have several advantages over normal raw magnets:
- Raw magnets are brittle and can be easily damaged when force is applied. The steel cup protects the magnet and makes it more robust.
- The field lines of the magnet are concentrated by the steel and directed to the open holding surface. This results in a deeper magnetic field and an increase in holding force.
- The steel pot allows the magnet to be equipped with various threads, which makes mounting and installation much easier.
