Neodymium pot magnet with threaded pin
Pot magnets with threaded pins consist of a neodymium disc magnet that is built into a steel cup. This steel cup is equipped with a central external thread that allows the magnet to be quickly screwed together. The size of the threaded pin is matched to the dimensions of the magnet. Our standard range includes sizes from M3 to M8.
A pot magnet with an external thread offers the same advantages as other magnet systems. It is extremely strong, very robust and can be easily screwed into its surroundings.

Pot magnets with threaded stud – design and function
Pot magnets with threaded pin basically consist of two components: a neodymium disc magnet that is dimensioned as large as possible and a steel pot with an external thread.
The magnet is installed in the steel cup and the edges are filled with epoxy or a plastic ring.
These magnets are called “pot magnets” because of their shape, with the steel cup sitting on the magnet like a pot.
These threaded magnets have the advantage that the pin sits outside of the magnet – hence the term “external thread”.
Unlike a magnet system with an internal thread, the built-in magnet does not have to give way to the thread. This makes it possible to maximize the size of the disc magnet, resulting in very high holding forces.
Neodymium pot magnets with threaded studs have some advantages:
- Neodymium magnets are very brittle and can suffer damage such as chipping or splitting even when only small forces are applied. The steel casing protects the raw magnet and makes it much more robust.
- The steel cup not only has a protective effect, but also increases the magnet's holding force. The field lines are diverted through the steel to the open holding surface. This leads to a bundling and thus a higher holding force.
- The steel pot can be equipped with different threads, which opens up a range of new applications. In our assortment, you can also find neodymium pot magnets with an internal thread, threaded sleeve or cylindrical countersink.
Pot magnets with threaded pins in use
Pot magnets with threaded pins are highly versatile in use. When handled correctly, they can be reused, are mounted in a flash and are extremely robust. The application possibilities are very flexible: these permanent magnets are used in toolmaking as well as at the point of sale. The external thread can be quickly screwed into the environment and holds various objects magnetically.
These neodymium magnets with thread can also be quickly converted into a magnetic base. Simply screw it into the desired object and it will adhere magnetically to a steel shelf, iron surfaces or sheet metal cladding.
Please note: threaded pot magnets are designed for indoor use. The steel cup can develop rust film and the neodymium magnet is only partially resistant to rust. Over time, the magnet's coating may chip off, leaving these spots susceptible to oxidation.
If you are looking for magnet systems specifically for outdoor or humid environments, we recommend our rubberized magnets. These are also available with external threads.
